One way to get higher Adsense Earnings
By Marika on Feb 22, 2009 in Blog Tips
I’ve written here a post about my Adsense earnings disappearing for a few days, and then coming back, however there is something else I’ve noticed recently which now totally seems to make sense as I see the results.
I have a few niche blogs and not knowing any better, even before getting traffic to them, I put the Adsense code on each of these blogs. Now the funny thing was, at first I was getting some nice $ for the clicks, but the more blogs I put on the Adsense system, the less I was getting for clicks. Sometimes as little as .5 or even .1 cents. And it was not the fact that people clicked less, but that the click’s worth decreased A LOT!
I’ve read the other day a report (I wish I knew where I read this, so I could credit the author) that Google penalizes all the sites/blogs under one Adsense account if there are many non-performing sites, where people just don’t click on Adsense, or there are no conversions from those clicks. Google is expert on measuring people’s habits and knowing how relevant for one’s browsing clicking on an ad is. So the suggestion in the report was to remove Adsense from the non-performing sites at least until the traffic on the site increases, and keep Adsense only on those where people are habitually clicking on ads.
So the other day I went to my Adsense account, and filtered by each channel for ‘all time’. This allowed me to see which channels didn’t bring any (or hardly any) money from Adsense. Then I went to those blogs or sites and removed the Adsense temporarily from them.
Yesterday and today I woke up to some nice coins from Adsense. Where before 5-7 clicks hardly gave me a total of .26 cents or so, now only 3 clicks gave me over $2. I know we’re not supposed to talk about our Adsense earnings, so these numbers are not exact, but you get the idea.
So in conclusion, if you look at your Adsense sites, see which are non-performing, and remove temporarily Adsense from them. Then give it 2-3 days for Google to notice that and you should see your Adsense earnings nicely increase. Not enough yet to retire with the money, but enough to talk about dollars, and not cents any longer. Then start working on bringing more traffic to the other sites, and when you see nice traffic trickling in, start adding them back to Adsense - one at a time, and see how they are performing. Do this until you have all your sites back on Adsense and you will be now earning some nice Adsense cash.

I have noticed this as well! Thank you for the advice. I am going to try and pull adsense off of my non performing sits and see what happens!

Yes, this is true. When I release my second blog with same adsense account. I noticed that my earning drop a lot. So quickly remove adsense from the blog and my earning goes up again.
Thanks nice post.
