The Art of SEO Review
By Marika on Oct 27, 2009 in Reviews
I’ve had The Art of SEO on preorder at Amazon and it finally arrived. Couldn’t stop reading it over the weekend. I’m still in the middle of it (well the book is over 600 pages so I need some more time to chew it all) but boy it’s a great book, I have to say it’s one of the best I’ve read so far on SEO, and here is why.
It’s not one of those overhyped written by gurus ebook, it’s a serious book on all aspects of SEO. It is written for internet marketeers, for web masters, for serious companies, for everyone who has an online presence and wants their site to rank high in the search engines. The language flows smoothly and it’s very engaging. The studies shown in the book are not only interesting, but also highly relevant. For example the chart on the interaction between the organic and paid search definitely enlightened me on how people browse the web when they see various relevant search results.
The internet is overloaded with information on SEO and although much of the information is relevant and factual, a lot of if is crap and unreliable. And how would you know whom to trust and based on which advise to work and promote your site? I could go for one of the Stompernet or some other expensive courses ($1000 and up) or I can just try to sift through all that information overload the net currently presents me with. If I have the time for it. That’s why I felt the need for a serious new work on SEO that one can fully trust and follow, that one can use in the daily work and to truly learn from. Ever since Aaron Wall’s SEO book came out a while ago, nothing else came close to it. Until now.
I’m not going to list here the table of contents, you can find it at O’Reilly’s and of course you can also buy the book directly from there. Btw just a hint, Amazon.com has it for cheaper right now so it might be worth shopping for the book there. Here is the link at Amazon if you are interested: The Art of SEO (Theory in Practice).
If you are truly interested in all aspect of SEO and in honing your online marketing skills (the true skills that make one become a serious player in the field and not just go after the latest fad that someboy at the Warrior forum ads as a latest WSO, get this book and use it as your SEO bible, it’s worth it. I’m not yet finished with the book but from what I’ve read so far (I’m halfway through it), it is worth every penny of the $30 or something how much it costs to get it. Oh and try to get the actual book, not the ebook. We all know our habits when it comes to ebooks: we download it to our pc’s and forget about it until the spring cleaning when all the ebooks get wiped out as not beeing relevant anymore.

I have bought this before just before two months, I would say this book is really detailed, explains everything about SEO from ground zero so its an excellent book for reference purpose from amateurs to professionals in seo.

The book sounds interesting. I may give it a read. I have been working as an SEO coordinator for nearly two years but I have not read a book on the subject for a while. With that in mind complacency can creep in.

The price seems very reasonable for a 600 page book about SEO. I do not know the author, but for a book to be sold on Amazon has to overcome serious filters. It is a good sign.

Isn’t it refreshing to read something that is just pure content. I am over all those hyped up, ’self professed guru’ written, ebooks that end up being 99% fluff and 1% content.
I have added this book to my ‘must read list’!

I also love reading books like that. It gives enjoyment when you find a book that can really give you a lot of knowledge and open your eyes to the reality.
